Apu Kuntur was founded in 1989 (!!) and makes products from alpaca wool and Pima cotton.
Ethical production: Apu Kuntur products are partly made in Cusco (Peru) and partly in Europe. In Peru, they work with a family business that not only pays employees a living wage but also offers additional benefits such as free lunch. They also train people with hearing problems, who would otherwise have difficulty finding work, and provide childcare.
Eco-friendly: The items are made from alpaca wool mixed with a small percentage of organic Pima cotton. Pima cotton is a type of cotton that not only feels softer than regular cotton, it is also of higher quality and lasts longer. Pima cotton grows in North and Central America.
Good cause: Apu Kuntur contributes to social projects in various ways. For example, they make blankets from residual wool that they donate in Peruvian villages.
