Short description

PETITE SIZE CAPE. Ready to Ship

Invite India into your wardrobe with this statement Cape that is part of our Heritage Collection. The colourful patti border Cape is handwoven by our partner artisans Bhuttico Weavers Co-operative and promises to be a piece you will reach out for time and again.
Designed to be zero-waste and handwoven using a fine, light wool, this Cape Fusion is a statement piece that offers both warmth and effortless style all through the year. The border uses a cashmilon yarn that is typically used by the locals of Himachal Pradesh to create colourful borders on their shawls. The blend of vibrant, traditional colours with modern, geometric patterns bring together new and old elements. Wear this soft Cape Fusion with a shirt or dress, or even over your coat when the temperatures drop.

Flattering in its fall and fit, this Fusion Cape is the ideal extra layer and can easily be stowed in your handbag. Perfect for an evening out, to work or for travel – the Fusion Cape is your go-to versatile Cape.

Design Details

Honouring our origins, our roots, Cape Fusion is a coming together of old and new. The design respects traditional weaving techniques from the Indian Himalayas in their most original form. For the crafting communities, the intricate embroidery details represent elements of nature, from which they take inspiration. By infusing their authentic designs with contemporary colours, we are celebrating the best of two different worlds. Designed in Amsterdam and handcrafted in the Himalayas in small batches, each piece is crafted over weeks by artisans.

The clever placement of the armholes allow you to wear your Cape in many wonderful ways to create new looks: the short way offers more fabric on top, like a scarf and the long way becomes an elegant poncho. You can even belt it if you want a dress!

One for One

For every purchase you make, we plant a tree in your name. We send you a digital e-Tree Certificate with a link to a location marker showing where the tree was planted.

With our One for One model, in partnership with social enterprise Grow-Trees, we address community, women and nature. Tree planting generates employment for the village women, regulates the climate while improving the soil quality, which benefits farming communities.

About the brand

Julahas makes a collection of beautiful, fair trade products that they make together with Indian craftsmen.

Fair trade: The items are handmade in India, by artisans who work through an NGO, through a Fair Trade organization, or who are independent. Julahas visits these partners 3-4 times a year. Before starting the brand, Julahas took the time to thoroughly understand the artisans' production process. They find it very important in a collaboration that the values of inclusivity, dignity and diversity are shared.

Environmentally friendly: Julahas works with wool and cotton. These are responsibly sourced from local government-approved communities in the regions where they produce. Some of these small suppliers are certified organic or work in relationship with the farming communities so that the entire production chain is connected. In this way, farmer and weaver can also benefit from each other.

Good cause: The brand plants a tree for every purchase made.

Support locals: Julahas works with old crafts and communities that would otherwise disappear. India has 7 million artisans, but many of them are under threat from industrialization. Communities are falling apart because family members no longer want to work on handlooms. So by offering honest and regular work, they not only preserve the craft but also show that it is possible to earn a good income while staying with your family.
