About the brand

Elkline was started over twenty years ago by Stephan Knüppel who was inspired during his travelling to start an apparel brand with honest made clothing.

Eco-friendly: Elkline uses (recycled) hemp, GOTS-certified organic cotton, GRS-certified recycled polyester, Lyocell and Bamboo. However, they also use some virgin materials like regular cotton, elastane and virgin polyester.

Fair production: Elkine's items are made in China, India, Turkey, Taiwan and Portugal. All these factories either have a trade union or works council and have certifications like GOTS, GRS or they are a member of the Fair Wear Foundation.

Good cause: Under the name "Helpline", Elkine collaborates with both local and international aid organizations. For example, in 2022 they worked with Westwind Hamburg (repairing and distributing bikes to those who can use one but can't afford one) and Viva con Agua (providing drink water facilities in schools in South-Africa). You can find an overview of these projects here.
