This classic cut fitted shirt isn’t as classic as you might think…
Made with a blend of hemp and organic cotton (see below for details), this material is not only tough but soft as well.
We describe this colour as deep ocean blue, but it’s actually a very fine stripe of dark and light blue. This fineness means that from more than a couple of metres away, the shirt simply seems to have a depth of colour that is somewhere between mid blue and navy.
On closer inspection though, the fine stripes make the shirt (and hence you!) look very smart… and apparently vertical strips make you look thinner!
The buttons aren’t actually buttons at all – they’re nickel free press studs in gun-metal, with a satin finish.
Vegan.
Source: Of The Oceans
The clothes industry is a particularly dirty industry – we’re trying to do things in a better way!
None of our clothes contain polyester, nylon, or any other unsustainable man-made fibres, ensuring that micro plastics don’t end up in the sea. But that’s just the start. Below is a list of credentials that this product adheres to:
Organic Content Standard
The “Organic Content Standard – Blended” (OCS) certifies that part of the material used in this fabric is organic. In this case 45% of the fabric is cotton and is certified as organic. But what about the 55% hemp? Hemp grows like a weed and natually doesn’t require any pesticides or other polluting chemicals. Click the OCS logo below to find out more about their certification process, or visit our blog to see why we think hemp is the wonder fabric we need.
Fair Wear Standard
The Fair Wear Foundation is a non-profit organisation with the mission to “see a world where the garment industry supports workers in realising their rights to safe, dignified, properly paid employment”. The manufacturer of this product is certified to the Fair Wear standard. Click on the Fair Wear logo below for more detailed information.
"I first went to sea when I was a young child. My heart never left" - Scott Roberts, founder of Of the Oceans.
Eco-friendly: Of the Oceans is, you guessed it, committed to healthy oceans. The brand is plastic-free and uses materials such as hemp, GOTS-certified organic cotton, bamboo and wool.
The fabrics are dyed in a zero-discharge dyehouse, where all the water is recycled in a closed-loop system.
Fair production: The clothes are made in factories that have either been assessed as a leader by the Fair Wear Foundation or that carry a Fairtrade certificate.
Good cause: 5% of every purchase is donated to marine conservation charities.
