These oversized and multiuse shawls are handmade on a foot-loom by Mayan weavers in the highlands of Guatemala. They are members of the fair-trade Cooperative KemAjachel.

It takes about 3 workdays to 6 master-weavers to make one of these gorgeous plaids.

With your purchase you are helping these Mayan weavers to support their household economy, send their children to school and to protect their precious weaving traditions.

Environmentally Friendly: For the wool collection Quetzal Artisan uses materials such as bamboo, alpaca wool, and organic cotton, which are spun in the Andes mountains of South America. For the Guatemalan collection, they only use natural materials such as cotton and viscose, and they paint by hand using natural paint products such as tree bark and flowers.
