Short description

Shipped in 1 week

Cape Equal, as the name suggests is designed for all people and bodies. It’s equal parts human and sustainable.

Designed keeping functionality and flexibility in mind, this mid-weight Cotton Cape (with armholes placed at a distance of 48cm/19”) features buttons, loops and drawcords as design details and practical elements that help you wrap up and get going.

Wear it long like a cape, button it in front to create a vest, flip it over and wear it short with a hoodie or even fold it over your arms as sleeves for when it gets cold. Layer it over any outfit from your wardrobe to express your individual style. Cape Equal promises versatility.

A fun, free-size garment that is designed in Amsterdam for comfort and multi-functionality, Cape Equal will move with you on your daily adventures – from a bicycle ride to an evening out with friends.

Design Details

True to our zero waste philosophy, this free-size Cape is a zero waste product. The skillful positioning of the free-size slit armholes give this cape its multi-styling options.

The clean and modern European design blends beautifully with the artisanal handloom process to make the cape our flagship product.

Individually handmade by artisans from Bihar in East India, our Cape Equal is woven in small batches ensuring that every piece is unique and one-of-a-kind. Dyed using non toxic, AZO-free dyes.

With our One for One model, in partnership with social enterprise Grow-Trees, we address community, women and nature. Tree planting generates employment for the village women, regulates the climate while improving the soil quality, which benefits farming communities.

About the brand

Julahas makes a collection of beautiful, fair trade products that they make together with Indian craftsmen.

Fair trade: The items are handmade in India, by artisans who work through an NGO, through a Fair Trade organization, or who are independent. Julahas visits these partners 3-4 times a year. Before starting the brand, Julahas took the time to thoroughly understand the artisans' production process. They find it very important in a collaboration that the values of inclusivity, dignity and diversity are shared.

Environmentally friendly: Julahas works with wool and cotton. These are responsibly sourced from local government-approved communities in the regions where they produce. Some of these small suppliers are certified organic or work in relationship with the farming communities so that the entire production chain is connected. In this way, farmer and weaver can also benefit from each other.

Good cause: The brand plants a tree for every purchase made.

Support locals: Julahas works with old crafts and communities that would otherwise disappear. India has 7 million artisans, but many of them are under threat from industrialization. Communities are falling apart because family members no longer want to work on handlooms. So by offering honest and regular work, they not only preserve the craft but also show that it is possible to earn a good income while staying with your family.
